Die Redner Album #1 - JFK-Show Live in Berlin

DIE REDNER
„JFK-Show. Live in Berlin“

The three dimensional event, based on a historic speech!

On October 4th, THE SPEAKERS publish their first album - “JFK-Show. Live in Berlin". Based on a dynamic speech on peace, delivered by John F. Kennedy at the height of the Cold War in June 1963, THE SPEAKERS develop a multi- layered performance that combines film, jazz and electronic music. The political, social, human and historical significance of the speech by the charismatic president has motivated THE SPEAKERS to weave sound, motion art and the spoken word together, exploring new possibilities of sensual experience and historical understanding. The “JFK-Show” received the “SR-Medienkunstpreis 2007” (Award for Media Art) in 2007 as well as the “Förderpreis Experimentalfilm 2007” by Saarland Medien GmbH.

The DVD is based on live recordings of the “JFK-Show” in Berlin (May 2008). Stressing the sensuous and aesthetic dimensions of speech, THE SPEAKERS offer a musically vibrant, visually stunning example of how to reengage the relationship between art, history and politics.

Much more than a documentation of the live performance, the album features a DVD (stereo/surround) as well as a 100-page anthology with texts and commentary, including an interview with JKF's special counsel and speechwriter Ted Sorensen. THE SPEAKERS want to enourage young people to reeapproach the complexity of the spoken word through music and visual art, inviting them to explore critically the power of political rhetoric. The album contains both the film and a comprehensive anthology to situate the speech in its historical moment and provide background on the unique musical and visual aesthetic developed by THE SPEAKERS.
